The tragic event that took place in a little aircraft that was flying across the countryside of New York led in the deaths of five members of a family that had its roots in Georgia. The plane was flying in the state of New York. The victims were all members of the same family. The victims, who have been named as Roger Beggs, Laura Van Epps, Ryan Van Epps, James Van Epps, and Harrison Van Epps, were on their way back home after participating in a baseball tournament in Cooperstown. When the event occurred, they were on their way back to their houses from elsewhere in the city. However, before moving on to Atlanta, Georgia, which was one of their goals, they intended to make a detour in West Virginia in order to refuel their car. Some of their objectives entailed accomplishing this. They were quite certain that Atlanta would be their ultimate destination.

A Piper Malibu Mirage aircraft was involved in an accident at Masonville, close to Lake Cecil Road, after it had taken off from the Albert S. Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta. The accident occurred near the intersection there. Within a short period of time after the airplane had taken off, the calamity had place. A number of different types of aerial aircraft, such as helicopters, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and drones, are being used by the New York State Police, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in order to hunt for the debris of the disaster. Despite the fact that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) verified that there were no survivors onboard the aircraft, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp offered his sorrow to the families of those who had died tragically as a consequence of the disaster.
